Trip 175 - Friday Afternoon - July 29th

A quick trip down to just relax on Empty Pockets, clean the bilge and maybe hang the mainsail.

Been a while, but here she is. Decks nice and clean. All safe and sound.

On the way down, I spotted an Opel GT at a used car lot. Has just been painted. The color is pretty close to what I had for mine too. In their day, these were Baby Corvettes. Had a 1900 engine and were German made by Opel. If I remember correctly, these sold for about $3450 in the early seventies.

It had alot of interesting features. The headlights were concealed in the fenders/hood, but did not just pop up. They spun around to open, and spun back to close. Also, they had a platform in the back which led to a small compartment for storage under the rear deck. The front cowling, the bottom part, was a very real issue when parking against a curb or cement log. They were always scratched and gouged.

Fun car to drive, in its day.

The main did not get hung ...
