Trip 165 - Monday - May 16th

Start repairs on the smile, wash the deck and hull and get ready for spit and polish tomorrow and Wednesday.

I purchased a fresh tin of Harly Carnauba wax and look forward to applying it and se how things work out.

I placed some wax paper over the epoxy and glas, smoothed it and tomorrow will grind it off and put on another layer. Or two.

The top drain drains the lazarette, the bottom the exhaust for the engine.

The engine exhaust had a stainless steel flapper that rattled quite loudly when at idle and when leaving the slip. It was embarrassing.

I, removed it.

A following sea may enter, but after thirty years, if the engine survived without a flap, I think it will be okay for now as well. Plus, I intend to place a loop way above the water line to prevent entry.
