Trip 157 - Wednesday Evening - Dec 1st

Tom joined in for The Party and off we went to Empty Pockets.

I wanted to put the final touches on winterizing the engine and I asked him to run the die over the threads for the keel bolts to rid them of epoxy and thread some nuts with washers on to keep the keel on just in case the boat tips over.

Sure ... Yeah sure ...

I worked on the water pump and got the half frozen stuff outa there. Then just like last year, dribbled some oil down the intake valve into the cylinder, turned it over a few times with the compression release open, and now can rest easy the rings against the cylinder walls will not corrode anything.

He, as always, did a superb job with refreshing the threads on the keel bolts. And, plopped on a few nuts etc for the much awaited calamity - that will never come. A true test of faith for my abnormal paranoia.

We took the battery home plus whatever else was not needed there and buttoned her up for the usual cold blast we get around the Winter Equinox. For you from Lome Linda, that is the shortest day of the year and signals some twenty below weather

Later ...
