Trip 148 - Sunday - Sept 5th

Went down to get Out Of Dodge, and also to start the process of The Head and Tanks.

Last year, I fetched the water tank that sets ahead of the holding tank in the bow. Three lines are used with it. The Fill, to place water in the tank. The Supply, to provide fresh water to the sink in the head and the sink in the galley. And, the Vent, which allows fresh air to replace any water that is removed.

The Vent will have a special place. It will be run forward to the V of the bow, through a small platform and then to the bow peak. All inside, of course. If I remember, I will cover the end of the tube with some fabric to keep spiders and other kreepy things out of our water tank.

The tanks.

The Vent fitting. When installed for good, this will point forward.

The Fill fitting. Note the Vent fitting forward.

And, the Supply fitting. At the bottom of the tank.

The fitting on the right of the holding tank comes from the head. The smaller one in front of it is for the vent - located on the opposite deck.

I did a lot of finagling to make sure all this would be okay when in place. To the left, the intake seacock, with a handle that is clear of obstructions and can be rotated easily. Then, the Knotmeter sensor that can be easily popped out when at the dock. The Depthmeter sensor with wire. And the fitting for pumping out the holding tank. The line of which will go straight up, arch over to the left, forward, then up to the fitting on deck.

Marcia inspecting The Head.

Tubing of all sizes and use. The white stuff is for the septic system. One thing when fitting a new piece of tubing, is to consider its permeability. For some reason unknown to me, sewage can permeate cheaper tubing and then the odors fill the cabin. This was the highest rated, most expensive I could find. Some Razzle Dazzle, Sooper Dooper stuff.

The Head.

The location. The stains are from epoxy when I did the windows. I will get them off later.

It would have been nice had Catalina not installed this at an angle, but moved forward a bit. For Setters, and Pointers, it can be a bit of a struggle to get in there.

Next Project: Hook the crapper up ...

But, now I have my Signature Image again ...

Later ...
