Trip 131 - Sunday Morning - May 2nd

It was a nice day so we decided to run down and get 2-3 more things accomplished on Empty Pockets.

We picked up a Folding Prop at the Annapolis Show last fall. It may not make anything faster, but, it will be the only Catalina 27 with such a prop east of the Mississippi.

And, time to add our Home Port as well.

This came from Holland. Ordered on a Monday, it showed up Thursday - from Holland.

The Business End. To install, the setscrews have to be removed, then the shafts for each blade, the blades and finally, all set to go.

What a nice piece of Marine Bronze.

I had to torque it to 80 ft/lbs and the only way to prevent the shaft from turning, was a pipe wrench. I filed the marks smooth afterwards.

All installed, torqued, time for Locktite and setscrews. The pipe wrenched all down pretty hard.

Done.

I have to move the shaft forward about 3/4" or so. Will do that from the inside.

Decide where to put the lettering, make some tiny dots, then place the tape on the dots, and the lettering paper on the tape.

All finished.

Already boats in the wawa.

This is a real Avenue halfway between Red Wing and Hastings.

Otero Avenue

My wife's maiden name is Otero. In Santa Cruz, Bolivia, her uncle was a famous poet. A building on the square downtown is named after him and, he has a statue in a park.

Here are some pix from our trip there with her mother Nelly, in 2002.

Notable writer, journalist and teacher of poetry,
Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz
Inspiring, authentic, full of greatness and purity.

I am the wild jungle that has not been tamed ... I am the flowing river.

I am Santa Cruz!

I brought my Big Expensive Camera with with the Big Expensive Lens.

Let's see if the images are any better.

Maybe, maybe not ... Naw, they are much better ... Indeed!

Later ...
