Trip 100 - Saturday - August 8th
The Big 100. What did I do with all these trips? Amazing, it is ...
Well, I went to take care of the Masthead and Mast wiring into the insides of Empty Pockets.
I got a late start. Last night, just as I was meandering thru the streets of Woodbury, setting at my last stoplight, the windshield fogged over on the inside and smelled of anti-freeze. As if I did not have enough, now, I got some major car repair. Seems one has to pull the steering column and entire dash from the vehicle to replace the heater core. Nutz ...
Then, it was raining in Woodbury. I sanded the compression post and applied another coat of varnish. I got things loaded and about 1:00 I was on my way.

The previous owner dropped off the last two remnants of what we agreed was mine. This is the VHF radio installed after I sold it. Looks pretty ancient, it does.

In this box, is something a bit special. Holly claimed they never used it, and I believe her.

This is the alcohol stove that came with the boat 30 years ago. I added the ends and also a gimbal action in the pocket the stove fits in. The slot in front was a wooden dowel that protruded from the side to lock the stove level to the counter. All the components are kinds frozen and one winter day I may open it up, take it apart and see if it will work again.
For old times sake.

After sanding the faces, I routed the edges a bit more round and uniform.

After putting a screw in one edge, I could hang it from somewhere. In the end, I carried it inside and hung it from the ledge of the loft.

In an attempt to take the box beam apart - an attempt grounded in stupidity - I drilled some holes to find the fasteners and now I have to plug them.

I used the ends of some of the pinrail.

Cut off little slices, glued them and the hole and gently tapped them in with a hammer.

All varnished, and drying.

After the wires are in the mast from the masthead, I will enclose the set with these tubes, which are used for pipe insulation in homes. I will keep slipping them onto the wires, until I reach the top.

Can't sail without lines.

The Masthead. Have to add an anemometer and Vhf antenna. Pus, I tapped all the holes for fasteners instead of using sheet metal screws.

Time to drill some holes and tap them.

One down.

I used the bracket from the previous antenna and Tim and Tom, made it so the hole in the bracket was large enough.

With the tube and twirly head located here, it really blocks the masthead light. I will have to relocate it a bit further aft.
Later ...
