Trip 90/91- Thursday Eve - Saturday - July 16/18th

Made another trip down and hung the starter and alternator. Then, Saturday, remounted the ignition switch panel and Throttle/shifter and strung those cables to the engine. Chased for parts 4x and started cleaning up the wire for the electrical.

I took the harness apart. Here is the proof. The 30yr old factory wiring was actually some good stuff. Rubber like insulation, tinned, very flexible. I will make use of this for the short term.

The alternator has a plug that goes in here.

I took it apart and simply cleaned it up and squished the connectors back to where they are tight again.

Time to hang the starter.

The blue bell goes here and the starter hangs on it. I had to remover the oil pressure line, again, to get it on.

Alternator is on now too.

I greased the shaft for the spacer and pulley. to protect against rust.

Twilight Zone Version.

Looking good ... I aligned the three pulleys using the long drill bit again. Close enough for Empty Pockets.

The new motor mounts seem to be too soft. One can somewhat easily push the engine down and the mount will hit the fibreglas cradle. Not good. I will eMail England tomorrow to see if they have something stiffer.

Just some engine shots ...

Hoby Cats showed up in force on Sat. Maybe 8-10 or so. The wind was steady, air very cool and wet suits were the order of the day.

These cables are made from an outer tube and a flexible wire inside of it. One transfers throttle movement, the other forward and reverse to the transmission. They were not very sticky, but I decided to sneak some oil down both. Each got a bit easier to move in and out now.

I made a little funnel on top of both.

Filled it with oil and hung it high.

When it started dripping from the bottom, I stopped adding any more. The shorter (throttle) cable was a bit dirty inside. Only fresh oil came from the shifter cable.

The wiring diagram. At least a good attempt.

(Temporary)

I hung the ignition key panel and also the throttle/shifter body.

Also added the main battery switch/mixer.

THe other end of both. I did not run the cheesy choke cable to move the yellow lever from Start to Stop and back. I have to do something better than that.

Something happened to the hordes of ducks and seagulls we had last year. I think, enough boaters whined of the leftovers and one dark night, they were all netted and ended up in a can or frozen stiff. Now, instead of flocking to the bread as I throw it, they think I am throwing something that will hurt them.

Someday, these three holes will be sealed up and the area nice and smooth.

Later ...
