Trip 82/83 - Wednesday & Friday Evening - June 3rd & 5th

Some more cleaning of grunge. Acetone continues to work all right. I use a fan behind me to blow fresh air over me so I do not inhale too much fumes.

I use Bounty paper toweling. It comes as half sheets off the roll. I tear that in half and fold that in half and half again. Dip it in the acetone, unfold it once and start wiping. Flip it over, do some more wiping and toss in the bucket. I repeat this process 3-4-5x for an area about 6x6", maybe slightly more.

The grunge is rather chalky and fills the paper toweling immediately. From there on, all you do is smear it around. So, the best choice is to keep hitting the surface with clean fresh toweling.

I also needed my tools so I can get the engine painted.

Engine Compartment - looking lots better. I will lay in some glas and epoxy and spray it with white gelcoat. I will do the front edge next to the drain I created the same as well

No, I do not plop the waste into the lake. I bag these puppies and they go to the dumpster before I leave.

I started doing the starboard Quarter Berth. The upper right corner, one can see the difference. The board in the back with the holes, I will wipe that down and paint it.

Lotsa grunge here too. Amazingly, it washed off pretty well with soap and water.

See that star in the middle? That is someone's Anchor Light on top of the mast. Was still on, Friday night.

I weight the switch down under the bottle.

I stopped and got some gloves. Too bad they are so thin and tear out almost immediately.

You can get an idea of before and after. This was removed for the Shore Power receptacle and is exemplary of the grunge found throughout these surfaces.

Front and back, all cleaned up. Port Qtr Berth is next followed by the remaining compartments in the back. I need to invent something on a stick so I can wipe those surfaces down that I simply can not reach.

Later ...
