Trip 80 - Saturday Afternoon - May 30th

Now that the engine is ready for paint, I went down to relocate the bilge pump and clean the engine compartment and associated areas of the diesel fumes/smoke that resulted when the exhaust manifold broke in 2002.

Originally, I wanted to locate the pump next to the engine, out of the way. But, the ability to route a hose of decent size plus wires under the cabin sole was an issue. Then I thought, why not use the aft dinette pillar which has easy access to the bilge.

So I took apart what Tom worked so hard on and moved it over.

I also started cleaning only to find the way I was working, a bit lacking. But, having an electric pump to drain the bilge is a blessing.

Another trip with a cart full of Instruments of Terror and Torture. All I am missing is The Rack and Iron Maiden.

Sneaking the hose from the pillar thru a nice large hole into the bilge. The wiring comes thru a second hole.

I will relocate the switch between these two bolts.

The two access holes.

All wired and ready to go. I will add an inline fuse tomorrow when Radio Shack opens in Lake City instead of using the Switch panel.

Btw, if I remember to remember, before I get in the car to leave Woodbury, I will pause, take a deep breath and waltz thru my peewee brain what tools I need to do what I want to do and make certain I have them in the car. Getting south of Hastings to come back for five (yes, five) things I forgot? Arrrrrg ...

Later ...
