Trip 47 - Saturday

Trip 48 - Sunday - Sept 21st - The Fall Equinox
Tom and I were on The Boate from 9:30 til 6:30. We planned a full day of taking the lifelines, stanchions and pulpits off The Boate, cleaning all up and then rebedding them back onto the deck.
When that is finished, I will have no more deck leaks. Once, in the rain, I set out 17 cups and gave up there were so many drips. But, no more.
I forgot the camera on Saturday, but the next day, Marcia and I came down, cleaned things up and just sat around.

The deck without lifelines. Courtesy my cellphone camera. Sure looks bare. And, when on the deck, one is amazingly aware of where the edge of The Boate is. Life is better with the hardware back on.
Tom and I worked really hard on this project. I know I did not have the steam to go another hour past 6:30. When we finished rebedding all.

Marcia spotted this wrench and thought it the biggest crescent wrench she has ever seen. $12 at a tool store going out of business. I bought two.

Sunday, we had to get the masking tape and caulk off the deck.

This is a fair example of the stains and goo on the surface. Laquer thinner is my solvent of choice and it did a great job removing the gunk and stains and breathing life back into the thirty year old lines.
Apologies for out of focus, but, white, is white.

Before we left on Sunday.
This now kinda completes the deck work this fall. After it is on The Hard (Out of the water, back on land in its cradle for those of you from Loma Linde) I may take the time and really buff the deck before it gets too cold. For sure, I am pulling the engine and drive train.

Some nifty brackets for holding the mast for winter storage.

Herman was with us to bolster our spirits. Not having any spirits on board, we made do with sasparilla and branch water.

My Signature Image ...
No one has stolen it - yet.
