Trip 40/41 - Saturday & Sunday - August 2nd & 3rd

Thought I would roll these into a single entry. After all, the actual days were a daze, after all.

Did not hoist sail, but, as always, we are a bit closer.

Not too many instructional how-to images, simply because we would have needed an extra person to do the documenting.

Look carefully, do you see a difference in these images? Carefully now.

And it is not the Leinie's box being uncovered either. I keep that on hand for the neighbors.

Altho late in the season, here is one great pastime on The Boate. Even the ducklings can tip their bottoms up and go after the bread bits. Also, the little ones will pop out of the water, along a transom and fetch the bugs in the morning. And make no mistake of mama duckie's anger when a gull or male duck comes along. She, will attack.

In a given day, going thru 3-4 loaves of bread for the 40 odd ducks in the harbor - is not unusual.

Well, I trimmed the bristles in a previous installment, and here I wired it to the sanding pad. Finally, the copper broke from vibration. It did work, but scrubbing by hand is probably as effective.

I can hear it now from the Broker trying to sell The Boate to another party.

"Imagine how well he restored the rest of the craft. Just look at the engine starting crank."

Just some snapshots at the beginning of Sunday.

And was the breeze going strong. I knew this was not the day to hoist sail for the first time.

Using two tapelines worked great on the woodwork.

At day's end, things are getting real shipshape on deck!

Finally! The end is getting near now.

Tom and I wrestled the companionway trim off. I will strip it down along with the slats (crib boards) and pop them back on next trip(s).

Tom, fastidious as ever. And sadly, the tarp has to be applied once more.

What is going home.

Later ...
