Trip 39 - Thursday Evening - July 31st

Well, Marcia and I trudged don once more to The Olde Boate.

Ran outa time but some things did get done.

This, is not a toenail clipper. It, is a Shear for Brush Bristles. The Buffer did not like the NonSkid on the deck, maybe, a brush will.

I glued a spent piece of sandpaper on the back of a brush and thought the slower speeds of the Random Action Orbital Sander and bristles rather than a pad, may do the trick.

I tried sawing the bristles off in my Table Saw, but, all it did was melt them. Nutz!

So, a nippers like the clipper did the trick. Unfortunately, it was not meant for Industrial use.

On The Olde Boate, I nipped the rest of the bristles with something a bit better.

Tonight's Instruments of Torture.

Where The Rubber Meets The Road.

Hard at work slopping the paste all over. And I mean, all over.

It seemed to do the job, but the sandpaper pads are held on by hook's loop Velcro. The weight of the brush etc, tore off the hooks from the sander's pad. Saturday, I am going to take some wire and wire the brush to the pad.

Then, we will make progress!

My parts from England finally came and the first order of business was the broken engine mount.

England folks like a threadform called "Whitworth". Not metric, not SAE, but Whitworth. Luckily, the threads were 3/8" x 16 for Whitworth and the neighboring SAE thread was also 3/8" x 16. This means, the shape of the thread was different, but not the number of threads per inch. (16).

I ran my SAE tap down the threads and all was well.

After replacing the bad mount, when the diesel engine runs now, it sure is quieter. Much quieter. I will do the other three later.

On Saturday, I am going to get the deck cleaned off, and mount/caulk all the woodwork and blocks. Then, Sunday, time for sails and sailing !!!!

I, can not wait, I can not ...

Later ...
