Vacation - Friday July 4th thru Sunday July 13th

This year, we split our vacation plans a bit. In November, we plan to take Big Bird and find some place warm and surrounded by water. For now, we decided to stay locally and just relax BIG TIME ... I think we largely succeeded at doing nothing.

Lotsa pictures, most pretty boring and probably meaningless, but, there are some winners in here some place. Another two of The Head and for certain, our newfound friend and companion and Good Luck Charm, "Herman".

No longer homeless people in our car. We are now homeless people on The Boate.

Guess what is under my shirt?

Full of ice and pop and stuff. Wheels and a handle are sure nice to have.

What our country is all about. And to think, some burn it.

Mimicking how I feel some of the time.

On The Boate, the Bar is always Open.

All set for vacation it is ...

Where Marcia sleeps.

Where Jon sleeps. His big tummy and backside are a problem getting all of it in there. Really!

The Good Ole CPAP machine. I have worn this one, new in January 2003, for over 12,300 hours. But, it really helps, it really does.

One more ...

Hmm, the Coke is on the bottom?

Marcia went a bit nutzo when I, with completely serious face and tone, told her a piece of wood under the deck "went from here to there".

A nap improved her disposition later on ...

The Wood ...

How to get a really stuck on hose off? Cut it off.

We stayed in a hotel the night before our drive to Bayfield Wisc. TV and old movies were fun again.

The Rittenhouse Inn at Bayfield Wisc. Our fifth time to stay there since 1988. We did not get our ole room, but, the one next to it.

From the porch.

It is big.

Some people think up this stuff.
Some people make this stuff.
Some people buy this stuff.

Amazing.

The Bayfield shoreline.

We took the ferry to Madeline Island.

Why did this woman need a picture of --me-- ?

What does she know I do not ?

Ma and Pa Dokken.

A Willys Jeep convertible !

Now, brace yourself. This is "Tom's Burned Down Cafe". An absolute treasure.

Seems the two story bar/restaurant did burn down years ago and Tom, plopped up a tent and never missed a day of business. On the island, other business folk do not like him. Seems he makes too much money. The following images explain why.

We, had a ball setting there for 2-3 hours meeting folks, reading the Wisdom, and, just enjoying a beautiful day.

So, now you enjoy.

(Footsteps in the cement, painted.)

The Sound System. No expense spared here. All the stuff was free.

Some local fellow and a problem with aspirin or something ...

If we go back, I hope Toms Burned Down Cafe is the same, or even worse. A Must-See and Must-Do place.

Feeding the gulls. They would catch the bread in mid-air.

Going home again. The tourists did not go to Tom's. They are not happy.

Some livestock. Duuuuh.

More boats on Superior.

Our old room we have stayed at -all- the time except for one night, and this trip.

Our new room. Too dark it was.

Someone's Dream Project - not mine.

More stuff from boats.

These were so tame, I could have hand fed them.

From the porch at sunset.

"HERMAN" !!!!!

Yep, Herman looks like I used to feel (some times).

We really enjoyed having him with. And like Tom Hanks in Cast Away, and Wilson the volleyball, we found we even had conversations with him.

Please do not tell anyone else tho ...

Going home ...

Yes, we now have a microwave for hot coffee and tv dinners from the grocery store.

Me !

Marcia relaxing ...

We had a 2/1 coupon for supper and stop we did. We played some games, won fifty bucks or so, and went home.

Finally, home after one of the best, most relaxing vacations we have had in a long time.

Home ... ... ...

Later ...
