Trip 06 - Sunday Afternoon - May 11th

Today's Mission - Fetch the slats, make sure of the tape on the deck not leaking and hit the Casino for Buffet and Slots.

Want cleaner Lines? Throw'em in the washing machine.

But be prepared for alotta knots when you are done. Amazing! That just a bit of tumbling would make something so tightly wadded together.

The slates. These go in the Companionway which leads to the cabin. I already sanded the top one a bit. And the piece that is laying there, is a piece of the top slat.

Before and after.

The tiller had split. A common occurrence in something so old. I followed the split and it went all the way to the other end.

We need to get back to fresh wood without rounding the surface to much.

The Glue. Great stuff for Marine use. A powder that mixes with water.

And, the rudder. I already removed some of the paint with an orbital sander. My, what a mess. So Plan B is now in effect.

I am also going to seal these cracks in the gelcoat.

Here is the damage on the top of the rudder. I have already removed some of the loose material and will remove -all- the loose material before I can wrap the whole thing in a layer of glas and resin and repaint it.

It has been leaking under the layers for some time.

Another angle.

Tried the BBQ Grill Scrubber. Not much happened.

Aha. A file. Tomorrow I will get a bigger-wider one.

Time for bed.

In the garage I keep the clock on Central Standard Daylight Mickey Mouse Confusing Time. It is actually 20 of 12. That's close to Midnight for you folks in Loma Linde. (You know, The Big Hand -and- the Little Hand are on 12?)

Later ...
